Q: HOW DO I USE THE SEARCH FORM?

A: Colortract offers two different search forms an advanced search form and a basic search form. The type of search form that is used is determined during installation.

The Advanced Search Form

The search form is made up of four main columns. The first column defaults to equals (=). This is an exact match search for this row. For example if you search for "the" it will only return results that contain "the". Your available options for this column are: "BEGINS", "LIKE", "=", ">", "<", and "NOT". "BEGINS" will pull back anything that begins with what you are searching for. "LIKE" will pull back anything that contains what you are searching for. ">" will pull back anything greater than what you are searching for. This also works with words if you search for Alaska it will pull back everything higher in the alphabet. Since we are using states in this example the results would be Arizona, Arkansas, California, etc. "<" less than works the same way as greater than but is just the opposite. "NOT" will return anything that is not what you are searching for.

The second column is the text field. You can type whatever you are searching for in this field.

The third column is a dropdown that contains all the available content you can search for. If you choose to something from this dropdown the content is added to the text field for you.

The fourth column is the operator constraints of your search. There are two options "AND"/ "OR". If "AND" is chosen, the text field for that row and the one below it must both be found in the results. For example if I search for the number "5" in the first row and the number "4" in the second row. My results will only show documents that are indexed with a "5" for row one and a "4" for row two. Now if I choose "OR" I will return all results that contain a "5" for row one and all results that contain a "4" for row two.

Q: OK I COMPLETED MY SEARCH. NOW WHAT?

A: You will be taken to a new layout. On the top left is your search form, which still contains your search values. Underneath that you will see all your results. There will be a record count showing you how many documents matched your search results. Every row of results has a view button. If you click the view button that document will attempt to open in the viewer on the right. As you scroll down the results the viewer will follow you down the page. This will allow you to open and view many documents without the need to search again.

Q: THE VIEWER IS BLOCKING THE NAVIGATION LINKS ON THE TOP OF THE PAGE. HOW DO I GET THEM BACK?

A: On the top right of the viewer there are arrows that will allow you to restore and maximize the viewer. When you hover the mouse over the arrow it will change color. Clicking on the arrow will restore the viewer and you can get at the navigation links again. Clicking on the arrow will maximize the viewer again so that you can better view the documents. On the left top of the viewer you will see a "Go to Top" link, Clicking this link will return you to the top of your search results. It will also attempt to line up the navigation links back at the top of your screen.

Q: THE DOCUMENT IS TOO SMALL TO READ. WHAT CAN I DO?

A: The viewer has controls inside of it. You can try to use the zoom controls to get a better view of the document. If this still does not fill the needs you can download the document as a PDF and view it in adobe reader. You are also able to print the document.

Q: HOW DO I PRINT THE CURRENT DOCUMENT?

A: You have two options to print. The first is to use the print button in the viewer. We do not recommend that you use the web browser to print the document. This will print the web page instead. The second option is to download the document, open it in adobe and print from there.

Q: WHY CAN I NOT SEE THE VIEWER?

A: Our PDF viewer is made up HTML 5 and CSS 3. You are still able to download PDF's to adobe reader by clicking the "If your document does not display click here." link. The following browsers are compatible:
